The Century Public House is a neighborhood-friendly gastropub located just two blocks from Lake Michigan in Chicago's culturally rich Rogers Park neighborhood.
The Century is housed, along with the 300 seat Morse Theatre, in a LEED certified "green" renovation of a 1912 vaudeville and silent movie house. The Century's interior creates a classic period appropriate Chicago pub, complete with antique lighting, intimate booth seating and a local master-crafted bar, portions of which are constructed using locally sourced hardwoods milled from storm-downed trees.
The Century's menu draws upon the rich foundation of traditional Midwestern fare, emphasizing seasonally appropriate ingredients brought together by a talented group of professional cooks under the supervision of Iowa-born, Illinois-raised, Wisconsin-cultured Executive Chef Peter Camphouse. Offerings made in house, from sausage to ice-cream, using locally sourced produce, dairy and meats are prevalent on our menu. All of our beef, pork and chicken come from Triple S Farms in Stewardson Illinois, where lifelong farmer Stan Shutte sustainably raises his livestock without the use of hormones, antibiotics or other artifical agents. All of Stan's livestock is raised humanely, and is primarily free-range. You really can taste the difference. We are also proud to support the Chicago Botanic Garden's efforts towards sustainable, urban agriculture education by offering produce from their Green Youth Farm and Windy City Harvest programs.
The Century's wine-list features small production artisinal wines from around the world, all priced reasonably. Our Whiskey list is strongly rooted in Kentucky, with a well considered nod to Scotland. All twelve of our draft beer selections, with the sole exception of Beamish Irish Stout, come from small-scale midwestern craft breweries.
